Dr Mohamed Farouk Adamjee is an experienced Ophthalmologist who specialises in general Ophthalmology.
Dr Adamjee completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree (M.B.Ch.B) in Alexandria, Egypt and thereafter he returned to South Africa. Once he completed his internship, Dr Adamjee went on to do a Diploma in Anaesthesia (DA) and a Diploma in Child Health (DCH).
Upon completion of the diplomas, Dr Adamjee started in private practice as a General Practitioner (GP) at Southern Life Plaza in Maitland Street and Harvey Road, Bloemfontein. He was later joined by his sister, Dr Bilkis Banu Adamjee.
After 10 years of being a GP, he decided to further his studies and specialised in Ophthalmology. Dr Adamjee worked in multiple public hospitals during his time in KZN, including Edendale, King Edward VII, RK Khan, Addington, Prince Mshiyeni Memorial, St Aidan's and Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central. In addition to his Diploma in Ophthalmology, Dr Adamjee completed the Fellowship of the College of Surgeons of SA (FCS) examination and obtained his Master's from the University of KZN.
After moving to Bloemfontein from KZN, Dr Adamjee worked at National Hospital as a senior consultant in the Department of Ophthalmology. He then commenced private practice in Bloemfontein in 2008 and currently still has his established practice.
Dr Adamjee is a member of the Ophthalmological Society of SA (OSSA) and regularly attends conferences to keep up with advances in Ophthalmology. He also partakes in training in hospitals abroad and has forged relationships with various colleagues internationally.
Dr Adamjee has a variety of work experience ranging from multiple Hospitals in KZN and Holland, this provides him with ample expertise to assist anyone in need and gives all his patients a sense of trust with the experience that he has accumulated throughout his years of practice.

For medical aids, we bill at medical aid rates. For cash consultations, the receptionist will be able to confirm the cost. If specialised tests are necessary, the Dr will discuss the final amount with you.

The Dr will discuss his findings with you, provide additional information, answer any questions you may have and discuss a management plan. If necessary, a follow-up appointment will be made. This concludes your examination.
